AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AZERBAIJAN ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ AND ARMENIAN ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฒ PEOPLE OVER NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT: FROM A UGANDAN ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌPAN AFRIKANIST

~The young people today in both territories of Azerbaijan ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ and Armenia ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฒ, are green about the Soviet Imperialism from the days under the Soviet Union, when Joseph Stalin decided to make the Nagorno-Karabakh region an autonomous oblast of Soviet Azerbaijan.

~The children born in 1980s when you started fighting against each other now fighting each other just because of confusion from foreigners. These are now almost 40 years in 2020. It’s becoming practically impossible for them to take a way hatred which is now almost inherited from the generation of their fathers and to grand children born in the 21st century.

~This makes me recall about similar problems leading to tribal/religious clashes in my continent of Afrika.

~The Mau Mau rebellion of 1952 targeted the Kamba with Masai clashing with Kikuyu, in Kenya ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช all due to relationship with British. In 1967, the Biafran War in Nigeria ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ involving the Igbo people, still due to influence of the British, the Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น vs Eritrea ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ท, the Rwandan ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ผ genocide 1994 due to influence of foreigners, the Darfur war of 2003 against non Arabs, the Morocco ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ vs Western Sahara, the French Cameron ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฒ VS English Cameroon (Ambazonia) and or Somali land ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ด vs Somalia.

~All this shows me that as humans, we must think outside the box when it comes to peace and humanity.

~Azerbaijan Republic and Armenia is like India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ vs Pakistan ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ or Eritrea ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ท vs Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น and or Burundi ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฎ vs Rwanda ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ผ. Surely, same brothers fighting against each other just due to artificial boundaries.

~The number of people who have been killed between your both territories are as a result of your inability to think beyond hatred at hearts.

~As you plan to kill each other, think about the following 10 questions;

  1. Your history and traditions are the same. Why fight each other?
  2. Most importantly, who benefits from the blood shed?

3.Who has been supporting your war and doesn’t want it to end?

  1. Why is it that those countries you think are allies, have not come in to practically make cease fire permanently a reality but instead continue to supply weapons to each of you to keep fighting?
  2. When you die, spend on war, keep in hate, how will your next generation reap from your actions?
  3. MUST liberty and harmony come from unending disunity and fighting?
  4. Are you fighting for a trophy? Or one party expects another to kneel down and accept defeat amidst constant supply from super powers?
  5. What do you lose when you don’t fight? You become shy and get considered as a looser? Or, the sponsors of war shall feel angry that you haven’t yet killed another brother from across the territory?
  6. Will your war end when your children are crying over their slain parents? Who doesn’t understand that revenge will never end so long as the war prevails?
  7. Have you ever thought about those who have relatives from across the territories? Can’t you look at the positive side of unity VS the role of war amongst you?

~I hope that my letter shall be of use to you. I will be glad see both sides on a round table in jubilation and unity like your ancestors long time ago.

Yours,
